Joan's Quilts, Inc.
This store is a wonderful gift shop with country folk charm with linens, candles, pictures, wall hangings, lamps, curtains, braided rugs, quilted purses, quilts, silk flowers, folk art, signs, Christmas year round, Santas, Snowmen, ornaments, wreaths, centerpieces, ribbons, holiday and home decor. . Joan's Quilts has been around for 33 years at 4 different locations in Madison since 1976. Each time the store expanded and added new products and classes. The 1st store is where Crawdaddy's Music is today. The 2nd move was to 307 Mulberry St. with the 3rd store in the old JC Penny building in the East 100 block for 28 years. Joan sold the building hoping to retire, but had second thoughts... The present location since April 1, 2005 is in the building owned by Joan's daughter and son-in-law at 131 East Main Street. Joan opened again after helping the family remodel the historic building. Joan is a native Madisonian and has lived in Madison all her life. She has 3 grown children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Chad Michael, her youngest son, was born 7 months after moving into the 2nd location. He was suppose to be a small girl, but turned out to be a 10 lb boy. He slept in a macrame cradle hung in the store and played in the store for over a year. In 1988, Joan married her 2nd husband, Larry. You will feel right at home talking with Joan and Larry about Historic Madison or just chatting on the beautiful weather. Joan will have plenty of wonderful ideas you can use to decorate your home. Come in and say hello to the friendly staff. You can visit the Edinburgh Exit 76 Antique Mall, booths 162 and 183 to see some of Joan's many items available. Visit the Madison store for a larger selection.
